Case Study: Community Engagement in Saint Lucia

In developing a Responsible Tourism Strategy for the South East Coast of Saint Lucia, our task was to formulate a sustainable development framework for the region. But we didn’t stop there. We went directly into communities—working one-on-one with stakeholders, even though this level of engagement was not required in the brief.

We sat with local farmers, fishers, artists, and small tourism operators, uncovering gaps, opportunities, and unrealized potential. One example was the Micoud Women Cluster of Chocolate Makers. After engaging with them, we advised the group to improve the quality of their packaging to appeal to premium buyers and develop branded gift boxes for sale at the airport, turning a simple product into an upscale gift item.

Rather than simply writing these ideas in a report, we demonstrated them in real-time—showing stakeholders exactly how to enhance their value proposition and access new markets. This kind of direct, personalized support created an immediate shift in thinking and business development on the ground. We also developed unique “Axial Tourism Products” for each community, creating distinctive positioning strategies that highlighted their individual strengths—Micoud as an Eco-Adventure hub, Vieux Fort for Eco-Education/Eco-Engineering, and Labourie for Eco-Heritage experiences.

Case Study: Identifying Untapped Potential of Gambian Sectors

Gambia National Export Strategy

Leve Global was contracted to develop export market strategies and profiles for 21 priority products. However, during our field visits, we identified four additional high-potential products—avocados, pineapples, rice, and okra—that were not in the original scope. These products showed strong promise for export growth and rural development.

Without requesting additional funding or extending the timeline, we expanded the assignment to cover these sectors, bringing the total to 25 export product profiles. Our focus was not on billing for extra work—it was on delivering the best possible outcome for the country and its export stakeholders. We also went beyond standard market analysis to develop product-specific marketing promotional materials, including brochures, factsheets, and investment prospectuses tailored for priority markets across ECOWAS, AfCFTA, EU, Asia, UAE, and AGOA countries.
